Excellicon’s ConTree; A Visual and Interactive tool for Pre-CTS Analysis and Post-CTS Verification

May 18, 2021

Laguna Hills, CA. – Excellicon Inc. an innovative provider of comprehensive end-to-end timing constraints, CDC and clock analysis products announced its latest product “ConTree” for guiding design of Clock Tree on the chip.

ConTree is designed to help RTL designers with clock design while minimize debugging effort and understanding the clock network. Implementation engineers can further reduce uncertainty in pre and post CTS.

Prior to running automated CTS tools, ConTree provides a detailed analysis of clock logic and topology, guiding designer in setting up the CTS spec file. As an example, ConTree provides Analysis of Skew groups, or Macros to ensure a balanced clock tree network. The product identifies any conflicts in modes, or non-propagating clock paths as well as identification of explicit ignore pins. Further analysis ensures issues caused by redundant logic in clock paths, or any issues caused by jitter in duty cycles. User can interactively visualize the entire clock network, and analyze the waveforms for clocks and IO’s while performing queries and analyzing various reports guiding the generation of Spec files.

Once the designer completes the insertion of the CTS using any of the available methods, ConTree can then perform a detailed analysis of the resulting clock tree. Tools provides capabilities to check CTS across power domains, validation of any SDC associated with CTS. Implementation engineers can further check for derating issues and analyze clock tree exceptions as part of their analysis.

“Contree can significantly reduce the number iterations involved in design of clock tree while ensuring best performance, power and area of the clock network”, said Rick Eram, of Excellicon. “We believe with our latest offering of ConTree, we further complete our coverage of clock analysis, verification as well as generation of clocks through an interactive process to achieve faster design closure. Excellicon technical papers will further discuss the details of the applications and examples of tool usage”.

ConTree is now available to our customers and provides a significant addition to ConCert and ConMan products.
